Question 1012918: Factor completely: 6(x-y)^2+23(x-y)-4
The answer is (6x-6y-1)(x-y+4), but I don't know how the book came up with that answer and I need the steps that would show me how factoring this problem would come out to the answer.

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
6(x-y)^2+23(x-y)-4
suppose this were
6x^2+23x-4
(6x-1)(x+4) would be the factored form.
Now, in place of x, put (x-y)
(6(x-y)-1)(x-y+4)
(6x-6y-1)(x-y+4)
