Question 1003614: Please help me solve the following: factor the polynomial...x^2 − 2x − 6
one zero is: c = 1 − square root of 7
*If one zero is 1-square root of 7 than the other is 1+square root of 7.
Though I don't remember how to factor this. Please help me and show work so that I can figure it out for the rest of the homework.
Thank you!

Please help me solve the following: factor the polynomial...x^2 − 2x − 6
-------
Use the quadratic formula:
x = [-b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac)]/(2a)
-------
Your Problem::
x = [2+- sqrt(4-4*1*-6)]/(2*1)
-----
x = [2 +- sqrt(28)]/2
-----
x = [2 +- 2sqrt(7)]/2
-----
x = 1+-sqrt(7)
--------------------
Cheers,
Stan H.
