Question 1002975: I need help with a homework problem from Saxon Algebra 1. (It is from Lesson 52, Practice #21 on page 333.) The problem states, "Find the excluded value in the expression b^5/b^3." I'm not sure about my guess. Is it 0? Thanks for taking the time to answer this :)

Good guess! That is the only value which makes the expression meaningless.

b^5 / b^3 = b^2.

b can't be equal to 0 because then the answer is undefined since division by 0 is not allowed.

other than that, i believe b can be any other number in the real number set.
