Given a regular pentagon of side 42 cm. find the area of:
a) the pentagon
Regular Pentagon made up of 5 regular triangles.
Area of each triangle:
height = sqrt[42^2-(21/2)^2] = 40 2/3 cm
a = (1/2)(21)(40 2/3) = 427 cm^2
Area of Pentagon:: 5*427 = 2135.02 cm^2
-----------------------------------------------
b) the inscribed circle
Radius = 40 2/3 cm
Area = pi*(40 2/3)^2 = 1653.75 cm^2
=========================
c) the circumscribed circle
Radius = 42 cm
Area = pi(42^2) = 5541.77 cm^2
