Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A=LW
L=3W-1
494=(3W-1)W
494=3W^2-W
3W^2-W-494=0
(3W+38)(W-13)=0
3W+38=0
3W=-38
W=-38/3
W=-12.667 ans.
L=3*-12.667-1=-38-1=-39 ans.
W-13=0
W=13 ans.
L=3*13-1=39-1=38
Proof:
494=-12.667*-39
494=494
494=13*38
494=494
