Question 317787: The area of a given hexagon is equal to the area of an equilateral triangle whose perimeter is 36 inches. Find the length of a side of the regular hexagon.

the area of equilateral triangle = (1/2 *s)^2*sqrt3
s=side =6
area = 9sqrt3
Area of hexagon = 3sqrt3/2 * s^2 , s=side
9sqrt3=3sqrt3 /2 *s^2
2*9sqrt3/ 3sqrt3 =s^2
s^2=18
s=3sqrt2
