Draw a picture of this. Let the p be the perimeter. That is the length of the molding needed. The two-inch mat around the "picture" does not matter in this exercise. Or, maybe it does matter. You would maybe need to cut off a right triangle on both sides of each of the four pieces. Yes. That's it.

Look at the outside perimeter.

I'm not sure I understand. I think what you want is
the new perimeter of the picture with the 2 inch
mat included
