Question 901125: The length of rectangle is 10 meters more than twice its width. What is the length and width of the rectangle if its perimeter is 62 meters?
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
P = 2L + 2W (remember, it's a fence around)
P = 62
L = 2W + 10
Substitute the value of L from the bottom equation into the top
P = 2L + 2W
62 = 2(2W+10) + 2W
Distribute
62 = 4W+20+2W
62 = 6W+20
Subtract 20 from each side
42=6W
Divide each side by 6
7 = W
If the width is 7, then the length is twice that plus ten, or 14+10=24
24+24+7+7=62
