Question 843493: the perimeter of a rectangle is 38 metres.The difference between the length and breadth is 3 metres. What is the area of the rectangle.
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Width = x
Length = x + 3
Perimeter = 2*width + 2*length
38 = 2x + 2(x + 3)
38 = 2x + 2x + 6
38 = 4x + 6
4x = 38 - 6
4x = 32
x = 8
Width = 8 metres
Length = 11 metres
Area = length * width
Area = 88 metres^2.
Hope this helps.
