You don't necessarily solve for x and y. This is standard form of a linear equation. You can, however convert it from standard form to slope-intercept form so it will be easier to graph. You can do this by isolating the y:




Therefore, the slope is -5/2 and the y-intercept is 7/2. You can now graph it.
