Question 471652: Solve the following systems of equations and state if any lines are parallel:
y - 5x + 0 = 0
y + 1x = -24
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-5 x + 1 y = 0 .............1
1 x + 1 y = -24 .............2
multiply (1)by -1
Multiply (2) by 1
5 x -1 y = 0
1 x + 1 y = -24
Add the two equations
6 x = -24
/ 6
x =-4
plug value of x in (1)
-5 x + 1 y = 0
20 + 1 y = 0
1 y = 0 -20
1 y = -20
y = -20
It has a solution (-4,-20) the intersecting point ofthe lines
