multiply (1)by -3
Multiply (2) by 1
-1.5 x -3 y = -9

Add the two equations

x = -0.86 OR - 6/7
plug value of x in (1)
0.5 x + 1 y = 3
-0.43 + 1 y = 3
1 y = 3 + 0.43
1 y = 3.43
y = 3.43 OR 3 3/7
