minus eq1 from eq2
x -4 = o
x = 4
substitute in eq1
(9)(4) - 8 = y
36 - 8 = y
28 = y
check your answer
8x - y = 4 from eq2
8*4 - 28 =?
32 - 28 = 4
write the two equations in standard from y = mx + b
y = 9x -8 slope =9
y = 8x - 4 slope = 8
since they are not equal they are not parrell
