If P is the midpoint of segment AB, find the coordinates of the missing point
P(1.2, 4.5) B(5.3, 1.9) I cannot figure this one out. Can you please help me? Thanks,
If P is the midpoint its x-value is the average of the x-values
of the two end points,
i.e. (x+5.3)/2 = 1.2
x+5.3 = 2.4
x=-2.9
Also, its y-value is the average of the y-values of the end points.
(y+1.9)/2 = 4.5
y+1.9=9
y=7.1
So the missing end point has coordinates (-2.9,7.1)
