Question 275527: The perimeter of a rectangle is 68 ft. and the length of the rectangle is 4 ft. more than twice the width. Find the the area of the rectangle.
Answer by fwm5007(5) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = width; length will then = 2x+4 which means 2 times the width plus 4 more feet;
calculate for half the perimeter(one width and one length)
2x+4+x=34
3x+4=34
3x=30
x=10
so the width is 10 and the length is 2(10)+4=24 feet
to find the area then; multiply the length times the width:
24*10=240
