Pretend the clock face has degrees instead of 1-12. Multiply by 30, so 1 is 30, 2 is 60, etc.
At 10:30, the minute hand is at 6 so 180 degrees.
The hour hand is halfway between 300 and 330, so 315.
315 - 180 is 135
135 degrees.
