Hi there,
Put 2x - 3y + 3 into y = mx + c form
-3y = - 2x - 3
Multiply both sides by -1
3y = 2x + 3
Gradient = 2
Lines perpendicular to one another
have gradients that multiply together
to give -1
m1 x m2 = -1
2 x m2 = -1
m2 = -1/2
Using the equation of the line
y - b = m(x - a)
Where m = -1/2
and (a,b) = (2, -5)
y -(-5) = -1/2(x - 2)
y + 5 = -1/2x + 1
y = -1/2x + 1 - 5
y = -1/2x - 4
y + 1/2x + 4 = 0
or
2y + x + 8 = 0 (multiplying
by 2 to remove fraction)
Hope this helps :-)
