Question 994955: Grandma got a smart phone and needs help assigning the first four speed dial numbers to four of her 17 contacts. How many ways can the speed dial numbers be assigned?
Please show step by step

Answer by vleith(2983)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How many choices are there for the first speed dial? 17.
Assuming Granny is smart enough to not assign a speed dial to anyone already assigned a speed dial, that leaves 16 choices for the second speed dial.
Which then laves 15 for the third speed dial.
And 14 for the 4th speed dial slot.

You do the arithmetic!
