If there are 12 people applying for 3 positions how many ways can the positions be filled?
Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Depends. Does order matter? Are you filling 3 sales clerk positions, so it doesn't matter which person goes in which position, or are you filling one each sales clerk, receptionist, and delivery driver position?
==================================
Update: Student clarified the question. Order does not matter.
So the answer is the number of combinations (not permutations) of 12 things taken 3 at a time.
You can do your own arithmetic.
