Question 93259: I would like to see step by step how this problem is solved 3|2x+5|-2<18
Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3|2x+5|-2<18
------------
Add 2 to both sides:
3|2x+5| < 20
Divide both sides by 3:
|2x+5| < (20/3)
Interpret the meaning of |a| < b
as -b < a < b
-(20/3) < 2x+5 < (20/3)
Subtract 5 along the line to get:
-(35/3) < 2x < 5/3
Divide by 2 along the line to get:
-(35/6) < x < 5/6
