Question 494704: How many SSN are able to be used if the following numbers will never be used:
1) nubers with all zeros in any digit group (000-xx-xxxx, xxx-00-xxxx, xxx-xx-0000.
2) numbers with the first set of 666
3) numbers 987-65-4320 through 987-65-4329
Obviously there are 1,000,000,000 possibilities minus 10 for number 3 above but I don't know how many more to subtract for numbers 1 and 2 above.
Thank you.
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How many SSN are able to be used if the following numbers will never be used:
1) numbers with all zeros in any digit group
(000-xx-xxxx::::10^6
xxx-00-xxxx::::10^7
xxx-xx-0000::::10^5
Ans: 10^6+10^7+10^5 = 11,100,000
------------------------------------------
2) numbers with the first set of 666:::10^6
------------------------------------------------
3) numbers 987-65-4320 through 987-65-4329
I'll leave that to you.
