Question 373286: 1. A veterinarian tells you that if you breed two cream colored guinea pigs, the probability that an offspring will be pure white is 0.25. What is the probability that it will not be pure white?
Answer by neatmath(302) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since all probabilities must sum to 1,
we can easily see that since the probability of having a pure white guinea pig is 0.25
the probability of NOT having a pure white guinea pig is 1-0.25 or 0.75
This is also known as finding the complement of an event.
The event is a pure white offspring with p=0.25
The complement of that event is NOT having a pure white offspring with p=0.75
I hope this helps!
