You are correct if ordered didn't matter, but order actually does matter (since the positions are different)


So you should use 8 P 3 instead.

8C3 is wrong here since it matter of arrangement not of only selection.

This problem can be viewed as : How many ways can 8 people sit on 3 chairs?


obviously, no. of ways = 8P3= 336
