A dinner special for 4 people allows one fish dish (from 3 selections), one beef dish (from 5), one chicken dish (from 4), and one pork dish (from 4). Also, one person can choose either soup or salad. How many different orders might be sent to the kitchen?
There are 3 ways to select fish, 5 ways to select beef, 4 ways to select chicken, and 4 ways to select pork. This means we have 3*5*4*4 = 240 ways.
240 ways with soup + 240 ways with salad is a total of
480 options.

This is a trick question.
There are only four people ordering so there can only be four different orders.
Now if you ask how many choices does each person have that is a different question.
Or if you ask what the probability that any two will be the same that is also a different question.
