To change a fraction to a decimal is all you have to do is divide the numerator by the denominator.
= .125

you could divide 1 by 8 which you would come up with .125. But I've learned a "trick" somewhere when you divide something by 8, you just multiply by .125. So if you multiply by 8, you divide .125. But this sometimes it doesn't work well because 8 itself is more "easier" to deal with.
Other examples.
when you multiply something by 25, divide it by 4, then move the decimal places you need.
When you multiply 2, it's the same as divide to 5 and than move the decimal places.
