Any of 10 students can be seated on the 1st chair, giving 10 options;

any of remaining 9 students can be seated on the 2nd chair, giving 9 options;

any of remaining 8 students can be seated on the 3rd chair, giving 8 options.

In all, finally, there are 10*9*8 = 720 ways to line them on 3 chairs.       ANSWER
