ANSWER.  1296 - 64 = 1232 rectangles on a checkboards contain more than one red square.



JUSTIFICATION.  32 red squares are ONLY rectangles on a chessboard that contain only one red square.


32 black squares are ONLY rectangles on a chessboard that do not contain red squares, at all.


The rest of rectangles contain MORE than one red square.
