Answer: 4) Always, regardless of distribution
The reason why is because the median is by definition, the exact midpoint of the distribution. The median cuts the distribution into two equal halves. On one side, 50% of the distribution is to the left of the median. On the other side, 50% of the distribution is to the right of the median.
