Out of 100 employees at a company, 92 employees either work part time or work 5 days each week. There are 14 employees who work part time and 80 employees who work 5 days each week. What is probability that a randomly selected employee works both part time and 5 days each week?

Answer by robertb(5830)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x = the number of employees that work both part time and 5 days each week
==> 14-x = the number of employees that work both part time ONLY, and
80-x = the number of employees that work 5 days each week ONLY.
==> (14-x) + x + (80-x) = 92
==> 94 - x = 92 ==> x = 2, the number of employees that work both part time and 5 days each week.
==> the probability that an employee works both part time and 5 days each week is .
