Question 176296: I'm not sure if this problem can be solved. It appeared on an aptitude test that was part of a job application.
Jack makes twice as much as Mary. Jill makes 8 more than Mary. Who makes more?
I have come to the conclusion that this problem cannot be solved without more information. This is the answer I gave on the test, but it keeps bugging me. I have tried to solve for each of the variables but never get to an actual number.

I know the Sale price= original price - % * original price
the book puts it like that

P-Px0.4 = 240
0.6P = 240 THIS IS WHAT I DON'T GET .
P=240/6 = 400

PLEASE let i tried everything and either i'm already tired or i don't know. Please let me know how do i get the 0.6 and if there is another way to get this.

I know that A and B are split equally with boys and girls. If group C has 25% of the boys that means the other 75% is split between the other 2 groups. This is where I get lost. Help please.
