Question 99649: Can anyone help me solve this problem.
In a small pond scientists caught 100 fish over 6 "long and tagged them. The fish were returned to the pond. A month later the scientists came back and caught 50 fish that were over 6" long. of these 3 wer tagged. Estimate the population of fish over 6"
I'm not sure if I got it right i keep coming up with 6 fish for a answer.

total number of fish = x
I assume the 50 fish they caught were necessarily different. Maybe this assumption is unwarranted.
