Question 946502: In rectangle PQRS, the ratio of angle PSQ to angle PQS is 1:5. What is the size of angle QSR?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! both angles become acute angles in a right triangle.
if angle PSQ is equal to x, then angle PQS is equal to 5x.
since they are acute angles of a right triangle, their sum has to be equal to 90 degrees.
you get x + 5x = 90 which becomes 6x = 90 which becomes x = 15.
PSQ is equal to 15 degrees.
PQS is equal to 75 degrees.
their sum is 90
the ratio of PSQ to PQS is 15 to 75 which reduces to 1 to 5 because 75 / 15 is equal to 5.
