Suppose a cost benefit model is given by y= 2845 over 100-x . Where y is the cost for removing x percent of a given a pollutant can be removed for $23,000? Choices are: 114.1%, 89%, 8.9%, 447%
----------------
With those figures I do not get any one of those answers.
----------------
23000 = 2845/(100-x)
100-x = 2845/23000
-x = (2845/23000)-100
x = 99.88 %

23,000=2845x/(100-x)
(100-x)23,000 2845x/(100-x) (100-x) multiply 100-x from both sides of equation
23,000(100-x)=2845x notice it cancels out on the right side of the equation
2,300,000-23,000x=2845x combine like terms by adding 23,000x from both sides.
2,300,000-23,000x =2845x
When you add a +23,000 a -23,000 you get 0. when you add a +23,000 to 2845 you get the following. 2,300,000 = 25,845x
2,300,000/25,845x=25,845x/25,845x divide 25,845 from both sides to get "x"
x=88.99% or 89%
