Question 886257: In an election, 1/2 of the male voters and 2/3 of the female voters cast their ballots for candidate A. If the number of female voters was 3/2 times the number of male voters, what fraction of the total number of votes cast did candidate A receive?

Let's pretend there are a hundred voters (I picked 100 because of the 3/2, and because it lends itself to decimals)
If there are 100 voters, then 60 are female and 40 are male. (F = 1.5M)
Half of the male voters voted for candidate A. That would be 20. (1/2 of 50)
2/3 of the female voters voted for candidate A. That would be 40 (2/3 of 60)
Total = 60/100 or 60%.
