Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
John sold six times as many as James.
George sold six more than James.
-----
H = 6J
G = J + 6
-------------------
In all, they sold 54 tickets. How many did each boy sell?
H + J + G = 54
6J + J + J+ 6 = 54
8J + 6 = 54
8J = 48
-
J = 6 (# sold by James)
H = 6J = 36 (# sold by John)
G = J + 6 = 12 (# sold by George)
