Question 867126: what is the difference between the smallest and the largest values, when 5290 is divided into three parts proportional to the fractions 1/2,2/3,3/4 ?
Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x/2 + 2x/3 + 3x/4 = 5290
multiply both sides of = by 12
6x + 8x + 9x = 5290 * 12
23x = 5290 * 12
x = 230 * 12
x = 2760
our three numbers are 1380, 1840, 2070
therefore 2070 - 1380 = 690 is the answer
