Question 815390: Two kinds of rice costing $6/kg and $10/kg respectively are mixed in a ratio 3:2 by weight. What is the cost of the mixture per kg?
Answer by TimothyLamb(4379) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
i = inexpensive rice weight
e = expensive rice weight
i/e = 3/2
---
p = total cost
p = 6i + 10e
---
example i/e mixture, (3 kg of i) + (2 kg of e) for total of 5 kg:
p = 6i + 10e
p = 6(3) + 10(2)
p = 18 + 20
p = $38
---
price per kg:
$38 / 5 kg = $7.6/kg
