Question 807202: Mrs. Andersen and her son Ryan wanted to bake cookies for her wonderful students. Ryan wanted to bake cookies for her wonderful students. Ryan wanted chocolate chip cookies so they set to work and made a big batch of cookie dough. The first two dozen raw cookies went into the oven just as Mr. Andersen got home. Ryan was so excited to see his dad that he ran around the house until he threw up! After getting everything cleaned up and settling Ryan down, Mrs. Andersen realized the cookies were still in the oven! Of course they were burned to a crisp. She threw them out and started to bake more. She gave half of what she baked plus three more to Ryan to take to his preschool class. She wrapped up half of the remaining cookies plus 4 more to Mr. Andersen to take to the local library to give to friends. She wrapped up half of the remaining cookies plus 2 more to give to some of her great students. If Mrs. Andersen had 7 cookies left, how many total cookies did she bake? How many dozen is this?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
n=b/2+3,
a=(b-n)/2+4,
s=(b-n-a)/2+2,
7=b-n-a-s,
t=b/12
Anderson = 26 (22+4), baked = 94, Ryan = 50 (47+3), students = 11 (9+2)
d=7.8333 dozen baked
check
94 baked
ryan
47+3
leaving 44
Anderson 22+4=26
leaving 18
students got 9+2=11
leaving 7
