Question 77491: The list price for a radio is 22% higher than its net price. If the net price is $29.00, what is the list price? What is the amount of the trade discount?
Answer by ptaylor(2198)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x=the list price
Then 22% of the list price is 0.22x
Now if we subtract 22% of the list price from the list price then we get the net price or conversely,if we add 22% of the list price to the net price, we should get the list price, so:
x-0.22x=$29.00 or conversely
$29.00+0.22x=x------------same equation
0.78x=$29.00 divide both sides by 0.78

x=$37.18------------------------------list price
CK
22% of $37.18=0.22($37.18)=$8.1796
$29.00+$8.1796=$37.18
