y=mx+b is a straight line with slope m and y-intercept b. Plug in two x values, find corresponding y values. Those are two points. Draw a line through them.

When x = 0, y = 1. This line crosses the y axis at y=1.

when y = 0, x = -2

Plot those points, (0,1) and (-2,0). Draw a line between them.
