let b = # of boys, g = # of girls

b+g = 50 ---> g = 50-b

2/3 = b/g

2/3 = b/(50-b)

2(50-b) = 3b

100 - 2b = 3b

-2b = 3b-100

-2b-3b = -100

-5b = -100

b = (-100)/(-5)

b = 20

g = 50 - b

g = 50 - 20

g = 30

There are 30 girls and 50 members total

So the ratio is 30:50 ---> 3:5
