Question 701172: what price should kiran mark on a sari which cost Rs 3000 so as to gain 20 per cent after allowing the discount of 10 per cent
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20060)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Kiran marks the sari at Rs X

He will discount it 10%

Therefore he will be paid 100%-10% or 90% of x,
which is 0.9x

He wants to gain Rs 0.20(3000)

    (Gain) = (Money he will be paid) - Cost

0.20(3000) = 0.9x - 3000

       600 = 0.9x - 3000
      3600 = 0.9x
       = x

      4000 = x

Kiran should mark the sari Rs 4000
