A sweater costs $12 more than twice the cost of a skirt. The sweater costs $38. Find the cost of the skirt.
Let the cost of the skirt be S
Then sweater costs 2S + 12. Since sweater also costs $38, then: 2S + 12 = 38
2S = 26
