The ratio of boys to girls in a particular class is 4 : 5. 

How many girls are there in a class that consists of 45 students?

    || Cross Multiply to solve for x, the # of girls

For every 9 students, 5 of them are girls.  Divide 45 by 9 and then multiply by 5.
