TO SOLVE THESE TYPE OF PROBLEMS WE MULTIPLY THE TIMES & THEN DIVIDE BY THE SUM OF THE TIMES THUS
4*6/(4+6)=24/10=2.4 HOURS TO PAINT THE HOUSE TOGETHER

Let sally's rate be x/4
Let john's be x/6
:
x=2.4 hrs
or x=2hr+.4(60)min=2hrs and 24 min
