Question 602609: 5/8 of the students in Mr. Halls class got an A or a B. Four times as many students go an A than got a B. What fraction of Mr. Hall's class got an A?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x = # of students who got a B
x+4x = 5/8
5x = 5/8
x = (5/8)*(1/5)
x = 1/8
4x = 4*(1/8) = 4/8 = 1/2
So 1/2 of the class got an A
