Question 601275: Bill gave 1/3of his money to his buddy and divided the remainder equally between his 3 sisters. What fraction did each sister receive?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
After giving 1/3 of his money to his friend, he has 1-1/3 = 2/3 of his money left.
Now divide 2/3 by 2 to get (2/3)/2 = (2/3)*(1/2) = 2/6 = 1/3
So each sister gets 1/3 of his money.
