Question 575622: The ratio of w to x is 4:3, of y to z is 3:2 and of z to x is 1:6. What is the ratio of w to y?
Answer by JBarnum(2146) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
this is how i would do it wether its the fastest or easiest way im not sure
z:x = 1:6 this says for every z there are 6 x's
.
w:x=4:3
for every 4 w's there are 3 x's
.
y:z=3:2
for every 3 y's there are 2 z's
.
so now we need to find out what w and y equal
w=(3/4)x
y=(2/3)z
since z=6x we can substitute it in so y=#x
y=(2/3)(6x)
y=4x
so w:y= x cancels leaving
so w to y is 3:16
