Question 567890: HAE'S book store took in $633.75 at a 35% off sale. what was the original cost of his books? (hint: the selling price is what percent of the original price?)
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x = original cost of the books.
x - .35x = 633.75
factor to get:
x * (1-.35) = 633.75
simplify to get:
.65 * x = 633.75
divide both sides by .65 to get:
x = 633.75 / x
simplify to get:
x = $975.00
