Question 552736: Jack is on a 5 mile hike. He has already hiked 3 1/4 miles. How many miles does he have left to hike? I do not understand how many more miles left there is or what strategies to get it to help me later on.
Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

If the whole distance is miles and he has gone is miles, the you would subtract the distance travelled (miles) from the whole distance (miles) to get:
- = miles.
